Question One
If you had the stage… the undivided attention of the world… and all were listening… What words of wisdom, council or advice would you share?
“The last year has taught me a lot about acceptance, empathy, and directing your own path in search of the fulfillment that only comes from doing/creating that which YOU are passionate about.
In our quest for the brass ring, I think we often forget that everyone else around us is, in some fashion or another, working towards the same goal we are; albeit in ways we may not comprehend or agree with. Yet we often look at others as annoyances, burdens, and obstacles along our life’s journey with little tolerance, or even appreciation of our differences. Is the homeless man on the subway, telling his life story for a measly dollar distracting YOU from your game of Candy Crush Saga? Is the co-worker, desperate for acceptance annoying YOU because of his gross immaturity? Is the new leader you serve under subversive and unwilling to engage YOU in developing a collaborative working relationship?
We are all on this journey together yet we often insist on going it all alone, decrying those that “’get in our way’”. Yet when you think about it, WE are the ones that get in our own way based on how we act in situations, and how we respond toward others. If we could put ourselves aside for just a minute, and consider those around us as being “’just like us’”, then perhaps, even though we may wish for someone to “’make a difference in our OWN life’” we’ll realize that in actuality, “’WE can make a difference in THEIRS.’”

Looking toward the future… as far, or as close as you want to imagine (one year or hundreds of years)– Where do you see the people or the planet … or, what do you think we should be doing now to prepare for the future?
“I moved to the East Coast just a few months after Hurricane Sandy. Since moving to NYC, I have become even more keenly aware of the many different tragedies and catastrophic events we, as a nation, and as a world seem to be facing on a regular basis. I think that now, more than ever before, we ALL need to be prepared to step up when need arises. This is not the time to run the other way or callously disregard others (humans and animals alike). We are ALL in this together. Whether we face natural or man-made disasters, our willingness to step up, and put ourselves aside to aid those in need, exemplifies the human spirit of survival, compassion and love.”

My story began in the early 80s, when I opened my first studio in Las Vegas, Nevada—a mod little space constructed from the remains of a 3000-square foot citrus warehouse. It was there my roots formed as I worked non-stop producing, photographing, and directing projects ranging from nightlife to leisure, portraiture to lifestyle, wild animals to intricate special effects, Fortune 500 to mom and pop, entertainment to advertising, and a deep cross-section of personalities, perspectives and cultures.
I was in my mid-twenties, young, evolving, and thirsty for experience. A full head of hair and fresh set of eyes in a city full of energy as my business and network grew faster than imaginable. Not ready for the degree of success that came my way, I lived fast and fell hard. It was a decade where I grew up through experiences too numerous to share in this biography. Bright and dark memories that, to this day, are foundational subtext grounding the important value I place on humanity and integrity.
In my thirties, as the Las Vegas chapter hit its pinnacle; I faced a creative, spiritual, and emotional Do-or-Die. Driven by a hunger for personal and professional growth, I realized I had reached a crossroads. So, I decided to shut down my Las Vegas shop to travel the cities of Europe; exchanging security and predictability to live a vagabond life in further experiencing risk, history, culture and people. It was an uncharted time, a living out of a backpack and rolling suitcase journey where I navigated a roller coaster of diverse languages, cityscapes and customs. A week-by-week schedule of country-connecting train rides and hostel stays where each day I peaked over the edge of financial ruin. It was life-change to the fullest. My livelihood wrapped around my waist as I survived on cash pulled out of a hidden money belt. A character and spirit-forming trek that, in the end, left me homeless and stripped down to the most basic existence and reflections of myself. Yet, under it all, a great blessing was gifted to me—the birth of my cultural outlook, spiritual self and storytelling curiosity.
20 Years later, after two decades of building a new life and business, and at a time where all seemed secure and safe, I hit yet another crossroads. This time, an unwelcomed reaper not of my planning and an obstacle that left my family in danger of losing everything we had worked for. The possibility of homelessness real, as looking into the eyes of my daughter, my heart sank in facing one of my worst nightmares. An esteem-killing phantom, which not brought on by any lack of effort or irresponsibility on my part, was the aftermath of the 2008-2009 recession. And as it wrapped around me, I was again gifted a new chapter: The birth of Sidewalk Ghosts.
Ultimately, I survived that most painful obstacle. Managed to save my home and provide enough for my family’s needs. But my life was ever changed. My eyes were opened as I realized, that just as I had my own demons and obstacles in my life, so too, do we all. A fact taught me as I pushed myself forward by reaching out to the world around me instead of spiraling in my own burdens. And as I did, the miracles began.

The works of Sidewalk Ghosts / Richard Radstone outreach, and in conjunction with the mission of Operation-365 is to advocate for the cultivating of constructive dialogues and acts of compassion between people of all cultures and mindsets. In alignment with the non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non governmental or lobbying organization of Operation-365. In all that we do, we hold at the highest regard: The worth of the individual person.
Our outreach, media presence, and use of technology are designed to stimulate dialogue, humanitarian works and positive social exchange between individuals, communities, corporations, educational institutions and like-minded non-profit organizations or entities.
Our method of advocacy is quite simple: That through published content, community involvement and organized programs, that we may support and coordinate many people to share in growing acts of compassion, community service and humanitarian efforts.
We believe that via localized works global results can occur. And our advocacy is structured on three principles:
One
To strengthen links between people of all diversities through creating and maintaining an open and easily accessible sources of communication.
Two
That through outreach we may inspire the growth of empathetic viewpoint as we
advocate for, and coordinate, solutions to civic, social and humanitarian issues.
Three
To use media, digital channels, and good old fashioned advocacy to organize outreach and awareness programs that stimulate acts of compassion, community service, humanitarian efforts and charitable works between individuals in their own communities.
We honor difference and respect the individual worth of each another. We do not stand for any words or acts of discrimination (including age, sex, race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, attraction, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability, marital status or any other legally recognized protected basis under federal, state, or local laws, regulations or ordinances.)
We promote constructive dialogue. It’s not that we have to agree on things or burry our head in the sand. For we believe it is our difference that makes us rich. That said, we request, whether in agreement or disagreement, that we respect one another in our exchange and opinion. It’s OK to discontinue a discussion, but we do not attack. Please use good judgment in choosing what you share, the tone you use, and how your react to or respond to differing opinion, lifestyle, value system or culture.
Please respect each other. My story began in the early 80s, when I opened my first studio in Las Vegas, Nevada—a mod little space constructed from the remains of a 3000-square foot citrus warehouse. It was there my roots formed as I worked non-stop producing, photographing, and directing projects ranging from nightlife to leisure, portraiture to lifestyle, wild animals to intricate special effects, Fortune 500 to mom and pop, entertainment to advertising, and a deep cross-section of personalities, perspectives and cultures.
I was in my mid-twenties, young, evolving, and thirsty for experience. A full head of hair and fresh set of eyes in a city full of energy as my business and network grew faster than imaginable. Not ready for the degree of success that came my way, I lived fast and fell hard. It was a decade where I grew up through experiences too numerous to share in this biography. Bright and dark memories that, to this day, are foundational subtext grounding the important value I place on humanity and integrity.
In my thirties, as the Las Vegas chapter hit its pinnacle; I faced a creative, spiritual, and emotional Do-or-Die. Driven by a hunger for personal and professional growth, I realized I had reached a crossroads. So, I decided to shut down my Las Vegas shop to travel the cities of Europe; exchanging security and predictability to live a vagabond life in further experiencing risk, history, culture and people. It was an uncharted time, a living out of a backpack and rolling suitcase journey where I navigated a roller coaster of diverse languages, cityscapes and customs. A week-by-week schedule of country-connecting train rides and hostel stays where each day I peaked over the edge of financial ruin. It was life-change to the fullest. My livelihood wrapped around my waist as I survived on cash pulled out of a hidden money belt. A character and spirit-forming trek that, in the end, left me homeless and stripped down to the most basic existence and reflections of myself. Yet, under it all, a great blessing was gifted to me—the birth of my cultural outlook, spiritual self and storytelling curiosity.
20 Years later, after two decades of building a new life and business, and at a time where all seemed secure and safe, I hit yet another crossroads. This time, an unwelcomed reaper not of my planning and an obstacle that left my family in danger of losing everything we had worked for. The possibility of homelessness real, as looking into the eyes of my daughter, my heart sank in facing one of my worst nightmares. An esteem-killing phantom, which not brought on by any lack of effort or irresponsibility on my part, was the aftermath of the 2008-2009 recession. And as it wrapped around me, I was again gifted a new chapter: The birth of Sidewalk Ghosts.
Ultimately, I survived that most painful obstacle. Managed to save my home and provide enough for my family’s needs. But my life was ever changed. My eyes were opened as I realized, that just as I had my own demons and obstacles in my life, so too, do we all. A fact taught me as I pushed myself forward by reaching out to the world around me instead of spiraling in my own burdens. And as I did, the miracles began.

The works of Sidewalk Ghosts / Richard Radstone outreach, and in conjunction with the mission of Operation-365 is to advocate for the cultivating of constructive dialogues and acts of compassion between people of all cultures and mindsets. In alignment with the non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non governmental or lobbying organization of Operation-365. In all that we do, we hold at the highest regard: The worth of the individual person.
Our outreach, media presence, and use of technology are designed to stimulate dialogue, humanitarian works and positive social exchange between individuals, communities, corporations, educational institutions and like-minded non-profit organizations or entities.
Our method of advocacy is quite simple: That through published content, community involvement and organized programs, that we may support and coordinate many people to share in growing acts of compassion, community service and humanitarian efforts.
We believe that via localized works global results can occur. And our advocacy is structured on three principles:

To strengthen links between people of all diversities through creating and maintaining an open and easily accessible sources of communication.

That through outreach we may inspire the growth of empathetic viewpoint as we
advocate for, and coordinate, solutions to civic, social and humanitarian issues.

My story began in the early 80s, when I opened my first studio in Las Vegas, Nevada—a mod little space constructed from the remains of a 3000-square foot citrus warehouse. It was there my roots formed as I worked non-stop producing, photographing, and directing projects ranging from nightlife to leisure, portraiture to lifestyle, wild animals to intricate special effects, Fortune 500 to mom and pop, entertainment to advertising, and a deep cross-section of personalities, perspectives and cultures.
I was in my mid-twenties, young, evolving, and thirsty for experience. A full head of hair and fresh set of eyes in a city full of energy as my business and network grew faster than imaginable. Not ready for the degree of success that came my way, I lived fast and fell hard. It was a decade where I grew up through experiences too numerous to share in this biography. Bright and dark memories that, to this day, are foundational subtext grounding the important value I place on humanity and integrity.
In my thirties, as the Las Vegas chapter hit its pinnacle; I faced a creative, spiritual, and emotional Do-or-Die. Driven by a hunger for personal and professional growth, I realized I had reached a crossroads. So, I decided to shut down my Las Vegas shop to travel the cities of Europe; exchanging security and predictability to live a vagabond life in further experiencing risk, history, culture and people. It was an uncharted time, a living out of a backpack and rolling suitcase journey where I navigated a roller coaster of diverse languages, cityscapes and customs. A week-by-week schedule of country-connecting train rides and hostel stays where each day I peaked over the edge of financial ruin. It was life-change to the fullest. My livelihood wrapped around my waist as I survived on cash pulled out of a hidden money belt. A character and spirit-forming trek that, in the end, left me homeless and stripped down to the most basic existence and reflections of myself. Yet, under it all, a great blessing was gifted to me—the birth of my cultural outlook, spiritual self and storytelling curiosity.
20 Years later, after two decades of building a new life and business, and at a time where all seemed secure and safe, I hit yet another crossroads. This time, an unwelcomed reaper not of my planning and an obstacle that left my family in danger of losing everything we had worked for. The possibility of homelessness real, as looking into the eyes of my daughter, my heart sank in facing one of my worst nightmares. An esteem-killing phantom, which not brought on by any lack of effort or irresponsibility on my part, was the aftermath of the 2008-2009 recession. And as it wrapped around me, I was again gifted a new chapter: The birth of Sidewalk Ghosts.
Ultimately, I survived that most painful obstacle. Managed to save my home and provide enough for my family’s needs. But my life was ever changed. My eyes were opened as I realized, that just as I had my own demons and obstacles in my life, so too, do we all. A fact taught me as I pushed myself forward by reaching out to the world around me instead of spiraling in my own burdens. And as I did, the miracles began.

The works of Sidewalk Ghosts / Richard Radstone outreach, and in conjunction with the mission of Operation-365 is to advocate for the cultivating of constructive dialogues and acts of compassion between people of all cultures and mindsets. In alignment with the non-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian, and non governmental or lobbying organization of Operation-365. In all that we do, we hold at the highest regard: The worth of the individual person.
Our outreach, media presence, and use of technology are designed to stimulate dialogue, humanitarian works and positive social exchange between individuals, communities, corporations, educational institutions and like-minded non-profit organizations or entities.
Our method of advocacy is quite simple: That through published content, community involvement and organized programs, that we may support and coordinate many people to share in growing acts of compassion, community service and humanitarian efforts.
We believe that via localized works global results can occur. And our advocacy is structured on three principles:
One
To strengthen links between people of all diversities through creating and maintaining an open and easily accessible sources of communication.
Two
That through outreach we may inspire the growth of empathetic viewpoint as we
advocate for, and coordinate, solutions to civic, social and humanitarian issues.
Three
To use media, digital channels, and good old fashioned advocacy to organize outreach and awareness programs that stimulate acts of compassion, community service, humanitarian efforts and charitable works between individuals in their own communities.
We honor difference and respect the individual worth of each another. We do not stand for any words or acts of discrimination (including age, sex, race, color, creed, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, attraction, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, disability, marital status or any other legally recognized protected basis under federal, state, or local laws, regulations or ordinances.)
We promote constructive dialogue. It’s not that we have to agree on things or burry our head in the sand. For we believe it is our difference that makes us rich. That said, we request, whether in agreement or disagreement, that we respect one another in our exchange and opinion. It’s OK to discontinue a discussion, but we do not attack. Please use good judgment in choosing what you share, the tone you use, and how your react to or respond to differing opinion, lifestyle, value system or culture.
Please respect each other. We believe that we truly learn from each other and do not condone slander, rage, prejudice or any other word or action that has potential to harm, embarrass or devaluate another person, person’s or group. We ask that you do not use ethnic slurs, personal insults, obscenity, inappropriate or defamatory language, or engage in any conduct that does not show proper consideration for the rights of others or promotes topics that may be considered violent, objectionable or inflammatory (like devaluating a persons value system, promoting political agendas, commercial objectives or suggests or causes physical harm or mental abuse on another).
Think about consequences. Imagine you are sitting on a park bench and next to you a stranger begins to intentionally insult you. Poking at your belief system, family history, life burden or a tender insecurity, or worse yet, threatens your safety or life. So, please remember: Using your public voice or actions to attack, belittle or control another is way not okay!
If you share something that is not true or condemns another, be the first to respond to your own mistake or apologize.
Please respect copyright and the privacy of others. If it is not yours, don’t use it. It is very simple. It is that person’s choice to share his or her material with us, not yours. Before posting someone else’s work, please check with the owner first.
Although we invite you to openly and honestly share your words, ideas, pictures, video and links through the channels we develop and offer, or our programs and outreach, we do ask that you use discretion in what you choose to share.
